Yemen’s Deadliest Week: US-Led Strikes Kill 25 Civilians

ALWAGHT- US-led airstrikes in Yemen have killed at least 25 civilians over the past week, making it the deadliest bombing campaign since the final months of the Saudi war backed by Washington in January 2022.

The Yemen Data Project reported that 25 civilians were killed and 28 injured in 38 US-led airstrikes between March 15 and 21. The majority of these attacks targeted non-military sites, including a medical center, school, wedding hall, and residential areas. The deadliest strike hit a neighborhood in Sa'ada province, killing 10 civilians and injuring 11 others, including children.

The US bombing campaign in Yemen began on March 15, following renewed Yemeni operations against Israeli-linked ships in response to Israel’s blockade of Gaza aid. Yemen's armed forces had initially launched their naval campaign in November 2023 but paused in January after Israel agreed to a ceasefire. However, Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza two months later, prompting the US to escalate military action against Yemen.

On Tuesday, Yemeni media reported 19 additional US airstrikes, 17 in Sa'ada and two in 'Amran province, causing property damage. While no casualty figures were provided, the ongoing air raids indicate a continued escalation of US military operations in the region.
