ALWAGHT- Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, is set to travel to Yerevan on Monday for discussions with Armenian officials, focusing on bolstering Tehran’s enduring ties with its neighbor and examining regional affairs.
Iran and Armenia have historically maintained strong relations, which continue to grow and evolve. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Araghchi’s visit is part of Iran’s ongoing engagement with neighboring countries to enhance bilateral cooperation and discuss regional matters.
Invited by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Araghchi is set to meet Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other officials to address diplomatic and regional concerns, with a particular focus on developments in the Caucasus.
The visit comes after a recent phone call between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pashinyan, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability. Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992, Iran and Armenia have collaborated across multiple sectors, reinforcing their partnership.
