ALWAGHT- Thousands of people have gathered in the streets of Manhattan, New York City, to protest against Israel's renewed airstrikes on Gaza and the United States' support for the campaign.
Protesters gathered in Times Square on Tuesday, holding signs and chanting in solidarity with the Palestinian people. They condemned the war and expressed outrage at Washington’s continued support for Israel, including supplying weapons and backing the offensive in Gaza. A speaker at the event emphasized that the struggle extends beyond Gaza, reaching cities worldwide, including New York, London, and Paris.
A similar demonstration was held outside the White House in Washington, D.C., as Israeli airstrikes on Gaza resumed, killing over 400 Palestinian civilians and injuring more than 560 others. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that at least 174 children were among the victims. The deadly attacks came exactly two months after a ceasefire had taken effect in the besieged territory.
The airstrikes, among the deadliest since Israel’s war on Gaza began in October 2023, followed stalled negotiations for a second phase of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. The White House confirmed that Israel consulted with then-President Donald Trump before launching the offensive. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the renewed air campaign was "only the beginning."
