North Korea Vows Tough Response to US-South Korea Drills

ALWAGHT- North Korea warned Seoul on Friday, threatening the 'toughest response' if the upcoming joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States go ahead as planned.

North Korea issued a stern warning against the upcoming joint military drills between South Korea and the United States, threatening the "toughest response" to the exercises. A commentary on the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) emphasized that both countries would face a "horrible" price for proceeding with the drills, which it described as reckless and a violation of North Korea's sovereignty.

Pyongyang criticized the Freedom Shield exercise, scheduled to begin on Monday, for its modifications and its role in escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula. The commentary condemned the planned increase in large-scale drills and viewed the annual exercises as a direct threat to regional stability, claiming they would worsen the security situation in the region.

North Korea also expressed concern over rising US military activities, including the arrival of the USS Carl Vinson. Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korea's leader, accused the US of escalating confrontation with its "military muscle-flexing." She warned that North Korea would have no choice but to renew its strategic deterrence, describing the continued military drills as part of the US's hostile approach toward her country.
