ALWAGHT- A senior Hamas official has condemned Israel for attempting to reignite hostilities in Gaza and avoid the ceasefire deal, asserting that the only path to securing the release of Israeli captives is by implementing the second phase of the truce agreement.
Hamas official Osama Hamdan stated that the only way to secure the release of Israeli captives is to adhere to the ceasefire agreement and immediately begin negotiations for its second phase. He accused Israel of trying to derail the deal by proposing alternatives, such as extending the first phase or introducing an intermediate stage. Hamdan placed full responsibility on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for obstructing the agreement and condemned Israel’s repeated violations during the initial phase.
Despite the ceasefire, Israel allegedly continued its aggression by blocking aid, restricting the return of displaced Palestinians, and delaying prisoner releases. Hamdan cited 210 airspace violations, the killing of 116 Palestinians, and the Israeli regime’s refusal to allow essential humanitarian supplies, including fuel trucks, mobile homes, and hospital reconstruction materials. Aid trucks remain stuck at the Rafah border due to Israeli restrictions following the end of the first phase of the ceasefire.
Hamdan also criticized the United States for its unconditional support of Israel, warning that such backing threatens regional stability and global security. He urged the international community to pressure Israel into allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza. The initial phase of the truce, which aimed to facilitate aid, captives' release, and Israeli troop withdrawal, ended without progress despite negotiations in Cairo.
