ALWAGHT- The Israeli military has escalated its raids in the occupied West Bank, drawing widespread condemnation.
Israeli forces launched attacks on multiple towns in the West Bank, including Tammun and Shuqba, where they abducted several Palestinians and used tear gas and live fire against residents. In Jenin, the military demolished 23 homes as part of its ongoing operations. These actions have sparked widespread condemnation from international figures and organizations.
UN special rapporteur Francesca Albanese strongly criticized Israel’s widening attacks beyond Gaza, calling its actions “criminal” and warning of a clear “genocidal intent” targeting the entire Palestinian population. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also condemned Israel’s aggression, urging the UN Security Council to take immediate action to protect Palestinians and end the policy of ethnic cleansing. He further called on the US administration to intervene and pressure Israel to halt its attacks.
Since launching its latest offensive on January 21, the Israeli military claims to have killed over 50 Palestinians and detained more than 100 in the West Bank. These intensified raids have been part of Israel’s broader escalation since October 2023, when it began its war on Gaza. Despite killing nearly 47,500 Palestinians in Gaza over 15 months, mostly women and children, Israel was eventually forced to agree to a ceasefire after failing to achieve its military objectives.
