On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban's acting foreign minister.
During the meeting, Muttaqi welcomed the Iranian delegation, expressing hope that the talks would enhance the level of bilateral relations. "Iran and Afghanistan are two neighboring Muslim countries, and we always share each other's sorrows and joys," he remarked.
Araghchi emphasized the strong economic, commercial, and political ties between the two nations, stating, "I hope that during this trip, we can further improve relations to serve the national interests of both sides." He added, "I look forward to strengthening economic ties between Iran and Afghanistan and fostering even stronger cultural and fraternal relations that will benefit both nations."
Araghchi's visit to Kabul on Sunday marks his first trip to Afghanistan since his appointment as Iran's foreign minister. He is accompanied by a team of economic experts for discussions with the Taliban officials.
