ALWAGHT- The Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the Zionist regime's violent assault on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, labeling the act of setting fire to key departments within the hospital as a war crime and a blatant violation of international law.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Esmaeil Baghaei condemned the Israeli raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, describing it as a war crime, a crime against humanity, and a flagrant violation of international laws and norms. He stated that the attack aimed to cripple Gaza's health and medical services, depriving the injured and sick of essential medical care.
Baghaei highlighted that Kamal Adwan Hospital was among the last functioning medical facilities in northern Gaza. He denounced the Israeli military's forced evacuation of patients and medical staff, the arson of the hospital, and the significant destruction of its wards, calling it a heinous war crime and part of the ongoing genocidal campaign in Palestine. He also criticized the silence of international institutions regarding these atrocities.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli forces burned Kamal Adwan Hospital, causing extensive damage to most of its departments. They also detained dozens of hospital staff, including its director, Hussam Abu Safia, for interrogation. The fate of many patients remains unknown following the forced evacuation.
The World Health Organization (WHO) condemned Israel’s “systematic dismantling” of Gaza’s health system, warning it is tantamount to a “death sentence for tens of thousands of Palestinians.” Meanwhile, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) called for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid as babies freeze to death in Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 45,436 Palestinians and injured over 108,038.
