ALWAGHT- An Iranian court has issued death sentences for three individuals convicted of acquiring equipment involved in the assassination of prominent Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh in November 2020, according to the spokesperson for the Iranian Judiciary.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Asghar Jahangir stated that the Zionist regime has been involved in efforts to identify and assassinate Iranian scientists. He mentioned that Iranian security forces have been tracking "espionage elements" in various provinces, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan. Three of the detainees were tried for espionage on behalf of the Zionist regime and were sentenced to death after being convicted of smuggling equipment used in the assassination of Fakhrizadeh, disguised as an attempt to smuggle alcohol into Iran.
Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a leading nuclear and defense scientist, was assassinated on November 27, 2020, in a small city east of Tehran. Following the incident, a senior IRGC commander revealed that a satellite-controlled machine gun powered by artificial intelligence had been used in the attack.
