Qalibaf Condemns EU for Disputing Iran’s Sovereignty Over Persian Gulf Islands

ALWAGHT- Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf sharply criticized the European Union for backing the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council’s baseless claims over three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf. He warned the EU against testing Tehran’s determination.

During a meeting of Parliament on Sunday morning, Qalibaf urged the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) to redirect its focus toward stopping the Israeli regime's military actions in Gaza and Lebanon, rather than making baseless claims against Iran’s territorial integrity.

His remarks followed a joint statement from the PGCC and the EU issued in Brussels on Wednesday, which called for Iran to give up control of the three Persian Gulf islands: Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb.

Qalibaf stated that the EU and several of its key member states have shifted from being independent nations to entities that follow the orders of the Zionist regime and justify its genocidal actions in Gaza and Lebanon.

He emphasized that Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb are integral parts of Iran, asserting that no one can challenge this inalienable principle. Qalibaf cautioned countries questioning Iran’s sovereignty over the islands that they should “not test the Iranian nation’s resolve to uphold that principle” if they value their own existence.
