ALWAGHT- Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that he has held discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and a senior leader of Hamas regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In a post on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that he has had phone conversations with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and a Hamas leader regarding the ceasefire in Gaza.
Ibrahim highlighted the crucial roles of Iran, Turkey, and Qatar in achieving the ceasefire agreement.
He emphasized Malaysia's commitment to supporting efforts led by these key countries, including Iran, Turkey, and Qatar, to secure a ceasefire.
Additionally, Anwar Ibrahim expressed support for Turkey's proposal to convene an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to mobilize Islamic leaders to pressure the United States and its allies into forcing Israel to immediately halt its attacks on Gaza.
The Malaysian Prime Minister also noted that Iran and Hamas share his views and support these initiatives, including inviting non-Muslim countries such as South Africa, Brazil, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal to advocate for justice and the human rights of Palestinians.
Anwar Ibrahim stated that all three parties agree that meaningful progress towards peace must begin with the unconditional cessation of Israeli military actions and attacks on Palestinians.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, since the beginning of Israel's attacks on Gaza on October 7, 2023, 40,173 Palestinians have been killed and 92,587 others injured.
