ALWAGHT- The Palestinian resistance groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, based in Gaza, have claimed responsibility for a fatal bomb explosion in Tel Aviv.
In a statement on Monday, Hamas’s military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, announced that it had conducted the operation in coordination with the Saraya al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, on Sunday evening.
They also warned of "further retaliatory attacks" in the occupied territories if Israel continues its actions of massacre, assassination, and displacement of Palestinians.
Earlier, Israeli police reported they were “99%” certain that the deadly bomb explosion in Tel Aviv was an intentional attack. Ayalon District Police Commander Haim Bublil stated on Monday that the explosion killed a man in his 50s and moderately injured a passerby on an electric scooter.
The man was carrying a bomb in a bag on his back while walking down Lehi Road in southern Tel Aviv when it detonated.
Bublil informed Israel's Kan Radio that the attacker might have "intended to target a nearby synagogue or perhaps a shopping center. We still don't know why it exploded at that exact location."
Meanwhile, Tel Aviv District Commander, Superintendent Peretz Amar, stated at the scene that identifying the man is crucial to determining the nature of the incident.
