ALWAGHT- Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has stated that the Tel Aviv regime is anticipating a large-scale retaliatory strike from Iran in response to the assassination of former Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
Yoav Gallant informed US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Sunday that Iran is preparing for a large-scale military assault on occupied Palestine, according to Reuters.
The Israeli regime confirmed the call took place overnight in a statement released on Monday.
Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when their residence in Tehran was targeted on July 31, as reported by the IRGC.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh was "planned and executed by the Zionist regime with support from the criminal US government."
In response to the attack, Iranian officials vowed to retaliate against the Zionist regime, with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stating that the Israeli regime has set itself up for severe retribution by killing Haniyeh.
On Saturday, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the political adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, used the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to declare that preparations have been made to harshly punish a regime that only responds to force.
Shamkhani accused the Israeli regime of seeking war and undermining ceasefire negotiations by targeting worshipers at the Al-Tabin school in Gaza and assassinating Haniyeh in Iran. He added that preparations for a strong response to the Israeli regime have been made through legal, diplomatic, and media channels.
