ALWAGHT- The diplomatic channels between Iran and the United States are still open, with negotiations ongoing, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani.
When asked about potential talks between Iran and the US, which were discussed during televised debates before the recent presidential election, Kanaani said at a press conference on Monday that the issue has specific mechanisms.
"The diplomatic channels between Iran and the US are open, and negotiations are ongoing. Details will be disclosed in due time," the spokesman stated.
He emphasized that the Foreign Ministry is committed to protecting the Iranian nation’s rights.
Kanaani also noted that the outgoing administration of President Ebrahim Raeisi, who tragically died in a helicopter crash on May 19, will continue to act within the established mechanisms until the end of its term.
Regarding President-Elect Masoud Pezeshkian's campaign promise to lift sanctions, Kanaani said that every agreement involves two parties, but Iran will use all its capacities to protect national interests.
Kanaani added that the next administration will leverage all resources to advance Iran's national interests and build on its accomplishments.
