Harassment of Iranian Voters Abroad Will Be Prosecuted

ALWAGHT- The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in England urged citizens participating in the 14th Iranian presidential election to report any instances of harassment by individuals affiliated with anti-Iran groups.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in England announced that British police have pledged to prosecute any violence against Iranian voters through a special mechanism.

The embassy urged those experiencing harassment to document the incidents and report them by calling 101 or emailing the police for prosecution.

A spokesperson for the British Metropolitan Police confirmed they are investigating reports of harassment against Iranian voters.

Following the first round of the 14th Iranian presidential election, anti-Iranian elements, supported by some US-backed terrorist groups including the MKO, attacked Iranian citizens in the UK who went to the polls. Incidents included verbal abuse, pulling scarves off Muslim women, and shouting hateful slogans.

The Embassy emphasized that those responsible for assaulting Iranian voters should be held accountable in court for their actions.

The first round of the 14th Iranian presidential election took place on Friday, June 28, 2024, leading to a runoff between Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili, which will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024.
