ALWAGHT- The Zionist regime persists in its criminal assaults on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on the 195th day. Today, Thursday (Wednesday local time), the Security Council is convening to discuss developments in West Asia and Palestine, with some nations, including Russia, advocating for sanctions against the regime.
Vassily Nebenzia, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, stated during Thursday's (Wednesday local time) Security Council meeting on developments in West Asia and Palestine that Gaza is experiencing an unprecedented disaster. He also mentioned that despite this, the Israeli regime is blocking half of the humanitarian aid convoys from entering the region.
Nebenzia further highlighted the Zionist regime's non-compliance with UN resolutions, specifically noting that Security Council Resolution 2728, which called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during Ramadan, was not implemented. Therefore, he argued that the council should swiftly consider imposing sanctions against the Zionist regime.
At the same time, a group of Democratic members of the US Congress dismissed President Joe Biden's assertion that the Zionist regime is not violating international laws. They emphasized that the Israeli regime is breaking laws using American weapons.
Reuters reported on Thursday morning that in a letter sent to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, 26 US lawmakers reminded Biden administration officials that the Israeli regime's military use of American weapons does not align with US or international laws, contrary to the president's claims.
