Alwaght- New Pakistani parliament has elected Shahbaz Sharif for the second time as prime minister.
The election comes three weeks after general elections caused a delay on formation of a coalition government.
"Shehbaz Sharif is declared to have been elected the prime minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan," Reuters cited National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq as saying.
Shehbaz, 72, who was the consensus candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), received 201 votes in the 336-member house.
Shehbaz's challenger Omar Ayub Khan, the nominee of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, secured 92 votes.
Shehbaz will take the oath of office tomorrow, on March 4, at the Presidential mansion, Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Pakistan's political scene has been stricken by instability since ex-PM Imran Khan was removed from power in what many agree is an army coup on April 10.
