Alwaght- A British ship that was hit last night by Yemeni forces for violating anti-Israeli ban is now totally sunk, said spokesman to Yemeni armed forces General Yahya Saree.
Saree broke the news about the ship on Monday morning.
"The navy of the Yemeni Armed Forces, with the help of God Almighty, carried out a qualitative military operation, targeting a British ship in the Gulf of Aden “RUBYMAR” with a number of appropriate naval missiles... The ship was seriously damaged , causing it to stop completely... As a result of the extensive damage the ship suffered, it is now at risk of sinking in the Gulf of Aden. During the operation, we made sure that the ship’s crew evacuated safely," the statement released by Saree said on Monday.
The attack is the latest in a series of operations Yemen has been conducting to force an Israeli ceasefire in Gaza.
Ansarullah repeatedly said operations were directed only against Israeli ships and those seeking to assist Tel Aviv break the blockade, and that others could sail freely in the Red Sea.
However, the US and Britain launched airstrikes in protection of Israeli interests, triggering Yemeni retaliations.
