Iran’s Air Force Receives Russian-Made Yak-130 Jet Trainer

Alwaght- Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) has reportedly received first Yak-130 training jet aircraft from Russia.

Images released by the IRIAF recently appear to confirm the delivery.

The advanced aircraft would allow Iranian military pilots to undergo training in operating the 4+ and fifth-generation fighter jets, like Sukhoi Su-57.

Developed by Russia’s Yakovlev and Aermacchi, the Yakovlev Yak-130 is a subsonic two-seat jet trainer and light combat aircraft.

The jet can also be used for close air support (CAS), in addition to performing reconnaissance duties.

First entered service in 2011, the jet has been operated by air forces of Russia, Algeria, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Syria.

Yak-130 is an advanced pilot training aircraft, able to replicate characteristics of Russian 4th and 5th generation fighters.

the aircraft is capable of fulfilling light attack and reconnaissance duties. It can carry a combat load of 3,000 kilograms (6,600 pounds), consisting of various guided and un-guided weapons, auxiliary fuel tanks and electronic pods.

The delivery of this jet could be a prelude for delivery of Su-35 fighter jets to the IRIAF. Iran and Russia last year signed a deal for Iran to take delivery of advanced multi-role jets.
