Alwaght- The head of Iran's Export Confederation says that the trade between Iran and Saudi Arabia is now $15 million, up from the trivial $41,000 before the rapprochement deal signed in March by Chinese mediation.
The figure announced by Mohammad Lahouti suggests a 97.3 percent of the average Iranian-Saudi trade volume after the détente agreement.
Lahouti also said that exports to Bahrain, another country Iran normalized relations with after five years, are also growing.
He at the same time hailed the Emirati role in facilitating the Iranian trade with other countries and said that Iran's trade with the UAE is now $3 billion.
Iran and Saudi Arabia signed a deal for rapprochement and reopening the embassies in early March in Beijing after five years of strained relations.
Officials of the two countries began their meetings to arrange for embassy reopening. Iran reopened its embassy in the kingdom on June 6.
Saudi Arabia is taking the same step. Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan visited Tehran on Monday and discussed with the Iranian officials ways to expand trade and political ties and reopening embassy in Tehran.
The region has seen a different atmosphere inviting for cooperation and convergence among Muslim nations since the two regional heavyweights inked their agreement.
