Iran to Export Robosurgeon to Indonesia

Iran to Export Robosurgeon to Indonesia

Alwaght- Iran and Indonesia inked in exporting of Iran’s domestically-manufactured robsurgeon to the Southeast Asian country.

The agreement was signed in Tehran on Sunday in the presence of Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology, Sourena Sattari and Indonesian Deputy Health Minister Abdul Qadir.

The latter had traveled to the Islamic Republic for discussions concerning development of cooperation between the two sides.

The deal, whose conclusion was the focal point of the Indonesian delegation’s trip, was inked between Iran’s Sina Robotics Company and Indonesia’s Indofarma, enabling exports of the robot, named Sina, to Indonesia. Under the agreement, the Islamic Republic was also trusted with setting up two centers in Indonesia that would be devoted to development of robotic surgery.

Iran unveiled the robot in 2015 and in June, became only the second country in the world after the United States to successfully try its hand at robotic telesurgery using such device.

As part of the surgery, the patient is operated on using such a robosurgeon that is controlled by a human surgeon, who is based at a distance.

The robot is outfitted with two mechanical arms. The arms are connected to a distant control panel that is manned by the human surgeon.

Separately during the Sunday meeting, the two sides signed an executive document enabling cooperation in the field of nanotechnology.

Sattari declared Iran’s readiness to work together with the other side in the areas of health-related science and technology through various projects. He also said the Islamic Republic was prepared to export coronavirus-related medical commodities to Indonesia and even set up relevant centers there that could produce the products themselves.

The Iranian official, meanwhile, hosted a virtual meeting with Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who said his country was in need of buying Iranian medicine that could help it battle the pandemic.
