Alwaght- The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has urged Palestinians to continue the popular mobilization and to support the ongoing Intifada or uprising aimed at confronting Israeli regime crimes.
In a statement on Wednesday, Hamas’s spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the large-scale arrest campaign against Palestinians in the West Bank and Occupied al Quds (Jerusalem) at dawn Wednesday proves the Israeli intention of continuing escalation against the Palestinian people.
A popular uprising has been prevailing in different locations of the West Bank and Occupied al Quds against Israeli regime forces. A few resistance operations have been carried out by Palestinians in protest against Israeli regime’s escalation of its offensive practices against Palestinians and their sacred places especially the al Aqsa Mosque.
Over the past few days Israeli regime forces have killed 3 Palestinians and injured over 450 following intensified clashes in the occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the West Bank.
Tensions had been steadily mounting in recent weeks due to Israeli regime’s restrictions on Palestinians seeking to enter the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
A string of deadly attacks on Israelis, including a shooting that left two settlers dead in the West Bank last Thursday, and a stabbing in al Quds that claimed two Israelis' lives on Saturday, have prompted further clashes.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Resistance Movement claimed responsibility for sending the 19-year-old Palestinian martyr who murdered two Israelis and wounded two others in a stabbing attack in al-Quds Old City on Saturday night.
The martyr was named as Mohammad Shafik Halabi, a resident of al-Bireh located adjacent to Ramallah.
Just days before the attack, Halabi posted on Facebook that "the third Intifada has already begun."
