Saudi Regime Spends $6 Million to Lobby Against Iran Nuclear Conclusion: Report

Alwaght- An increasingly desperate Saudi regime has joined the Israeli regime in spending millions of dollars to fund television commercials against the Iran nuclear conclusion, a new report has revealed.
According to a Friday report of  The Intercept, an online news magazine, Television stations across the United States are being flooded with $6 million of advertisements from a group called the “American Security Initiative” urging citizens to call their U.S. Senators and oppose the nuclear deal with Iran.
The Intercept report said the “American Security Initiative” is a recently registered outfit owned by former Republican Senator Norm Coleman, who is a registered lobbyist for Riyadh.
Coleman’s firm, Hogan Lovells, works for Saudi Arabia. He described his work as “providing legal services to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia” on issues including “legal and policy developments involving Iran and limiting Iranian nuclear capability.”
The co-chairs of the American Security Initiative include former Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., former Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and former Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga. Chambliss works at DLA Piper, another lobbying firm retained to influence U.S. policy on behalf of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.
The advertising effort is part of a fierce lobbying campaign to convince senators to support legislation expressing disapproval of the international accord with Iran, which will lift economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for inspections of the Iranian nuclear industry. The vote is scheduled to take place in September.
Last month, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that senior Saudi officials have reversed course and now express support for the Iran Nuclear Conclusion.
But analysts believe that Saudi Arabia is still trying to kill the deal, just not in public. As Newsweek reported, Saudi officials speaking on condition on anonymity have attacked the deal. And Saudi media outlets tied to the royal family have also widely condemned it.
The Republican-controlled Congress is reviewing the Iran nuclear conclusion and is likely to vote on it in September.
Most Republicans oppose the nuclear conclusion with Iran, but they need a two-thirds vote in both chambers of Congress to override a possible presidential veto, and to reach that threshold, Republicans need Democratic support.
The Israel lobbying groups in the US, particularly the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), are already engaged in a massive effort to sink the Iran nuclear conclusion in Congress.
The group has raised at least $25 million which is being spent on television commercials and other stuff to spread negative propaganda against the Iran nuclear conclusion in Congress.
According to reports, AIPAC, and other pro-Israel groups, such as the Zionist Organization of America and the Emergency Committee for Israel, as well as wealthy Jewish businessmen, like Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Miriam, have committed about $100 million to sabotage the Iran nuclear conclusion.
Iran and the P5+1 finalized the text of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in the Austrian capital city of Vienna on July 14 after 18 days of intense negotiations and all-nighters that capped around 23 months of talks between Iran and the P5+1 – the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany.
The JCPOA turned into an international document after the UN Security Council on July 20 unanimously endorsed a resolution under which the International Atomic Energy Agency will continue to verify Iran’s compliance with its nuclear-related commitments under the agreement.
