Qatar Cites Jealousy in Saudi-Led Efforts to Snatch its 2022 World Cup Rights

Alwaght- FIFA President Gianni Infantino has said that Qatar World Cup 2022 will be great and they are satisfied with the ongoing preparations.

"We are confident that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be up to expectations," he added during a news conference on Monday in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Despite the illegal blockade imposed by the Saudi-led regime on Qatar, the work in the world cup 2022 stadiums continues at an accelerated pace.

Earlier this month, Infantino had called for concerted efforts by all Persian Gulf countries to make World Cup Qatar 2022 a success, adding that the tournament is for all countries in the region, not only Qatar.

October last year, Qatar slammed attempt by rival Saudi-led regimes to take the 2022 FIFA World Cup hosting rights away from the Persian Gulf state.

Neighboring Iran has already declared readiness to allow its Persian Gulf Kish Island to host teams that will participate in Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Early June last, Saudi-led regimes severed relations with Qatar and imposed a blockade against it, accusing Doha of funding "extremism". Qatar has vehemently rejected the allegations as "baseless".

On June 22, the block, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, issued a 13-point list of demands, including the shutdown of Al Jazeera TV, limiting ties with Iran, and expelling Turkish troops stationed in the country as a prerequisite to lifting the blockade.

Qatar rejected all the demands, denouncing them as attempts to violate its sovereignty.
