Alwaght- Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have attacked a Turkey-based military camp that was used by the country's army and allied Syrian militants in Syria offensive, the predominantly Kurdish militia's media center claimed on Saturday.
Russia's Sputnik news agency cited the US-backed SDF's media center as saying that they have "Carried out a specific military operation against the invaders and their operation desk in Qara Xaneh township in the Turkish state of Hatay, killing 7 terrorists including Turkish soldiers, in addition to a large number of wounded".
On January 20, Turkish military along with the Ankara-backed Syrian militant group Free Syrian Army launched the so-called Operation Olive Branch against Kurdish militia forces in Syria's Afrin district after the US announce a plan to work with the Kurdish militias to set up a 30,000-strong border force near Turkish soil, a move that infuriated Ankara.
Ankara views the US-backed Kurdish YPG militias as a terror organization and the Syrian branch of the outlawed Kurdish Workers Party (PKK). The latter has been fighting for an autonomous region inside Turkey since 1984.
SDF also warned Turkish people "to stay away from the military points of the Turkish invasion army and ISIS/ Al-Nusra points, because all of the military points are legitimate targets for our forces".
The Syrian government has condemned Turkish offensive as "brutal aggression”, saying Ankara has not informed Damascus about the operation.
