Alwaght- Syrian authorities on Friday seized a large cache of weapons, various ammunition, toxic materials and Israeli-made mines left by fleeing ISIS terrorists in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The authorities discovered Israeli-made mines, poisonous materials and weapons from the remnants of ISIS during the mop-up operations of the villages of al-Sayyal, Hassrat and the town of al-Jalaa in the eastern countryside of the province.
Syrian forces continue their work in the villages and towns of the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor and cleansing the area of the remnants of ISIS in preparation for the return of the families to their homes.
Earlier this month, about 3,000 displaced persons returned to their homes in the province after their basic needs were secured by the Syrian state.
October last year Syrian forces also found arms, ammunition and telecommunication devices, some of which were Israeli-made, inside ISIS terrorist group dens while combing a number of villages in the countryside of Homs and Hama.
The Wall Street Journal reported in June last year that the Israeli regime provided Syrian militants with substantial funding and aid in order to maintain a buffer zone in the Golan Heights border area between the occupied territories and Syria.
Tel Aviv has provided significant amounts of cash, food, fuel and medical supplies to militants fighting against Bashar al-Assad’s government, the paper reported, citing terrorists and people familiar with Israeli regime's thinking.
Syrian forces are engaged in intensive operations to wipe out remnants of terrorists in many parts of the country after a successful offensive to retake all territories previously occupied by ISIS terrorist group in the country. Syria has been gripped by a foreign-backed insurgency since 2011 which has led to the killing of hundreds of thousands of civilians and displacing of millions.
