Iran says U.S., Israeli Regime Ignited Terrorism in West Asia
Alwaght-Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has blamed the policies of the United States and the Israeli regime toward the Middle East (West Asia) saying they are the source of extremism and terrorism in the region.

The top Iranian diplomat made the remarks in Tehran on Tuesday at a meeting with Gabriela Cuevas Barron, the head of the foreign relations committee of Mexico’ Senate of the Republic.

During the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister appealed for concerted efforts to fight against terrorism within the framework of international and regional cooperation.

He pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran had warned against the spread of terrorism and violence as well as the emergence of terrorist groups such as the ISIS terrorist group in the region.

Zarif referred to Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani proposed the World against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) initiative in 2013, which was adopted by the United Nations in the form of a resolution.

The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to approve Rouhani’s WAVE proposal on December 18, 2013. The initiative calls on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism. The Iranian president made the proposal in his address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25, 2013.
