Alwaght - The Syrian army units in cooperation with Hezbollah have made major gains against al-Nusra Front terrorist group in Qalamoun region, the terrorist group's stronghold that lies between Syrian-Lebanon borders.
The joint forces of the Syrian army, Syria’s National Defense forces and Hezbollah are now tightening the noose around the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group al-Nusra Front near the Syrian town of Flitah in Qalamoun, Press TV reported.
The joint forces managed to retake control of a number of hilltops overlooking the border, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists in the region.
The Hezbollah fighters and the Syrian forces attacked the terrorists, “destroyed their vehicles and [cut] their supply lines stretching from Arsal in Lebanon to Flitah in Syria,” Iran-based media outlet cited a military source in the joint forces as saying.
Meanwhile, Lebanon-based Almanar reported that a Lebanese resistance Elite Force managed to control strategic heights in Arsal outskirts.
According to Almanar, terrorists fled Qarnat al-Tannour Heights as the resistance Elite Force regained the area.
Large numbers of militants were killed and injured during the operation, Lebanese media out let reported, noting that these heights are of much significance since they overlook three valleys in Arsal barrens: Uwaiss Valley, Atneen Valley and AL-Khayl Valley.
