Two Million Yemenis Displaced by Saudi-Led Aggression: Report

Saudi bombardment of civilian building in Yemen has left millions displaced

The UN says that the number of internally displaced people in Yemen had reached nearly 2 million due to the ongoing Saudi-led aggression .

Alwaght- The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says that the number of internally displaced people in Yemen had reached nearly 2 million due to the ongoing Saudi-led aggression on the impoverished Arab state.

UNHCR noted that said 84 percent of the nearly 1,980,510 people have been internally displaced for over a year.

The report released on Monday also said 946,044 internally displaced people had returned to their homes and 280,623 refugees and asylum seekers, mainly from Somalia and Ethiopia, are in the country.

Additionally, the report said the "UNHCR remains deeply concerned by the significant impact the escalating hostilities are having on the protection of civilians and on the increase of newly displaced persons."

The Saudi-led coalition started a bloody aggression on Yemen in March 2015 to oust the popular Ansarullah movement and restore to power fugitive Abdul Rabbuh Mansour Hadi who resigned as president and fled to Riyadh. The Saudis have failed to achieve their stated objective and are now stuck in the Yemen quagmire while indiscriminately bombarding the impoverished stated on an almost daily basis.

Independent estimates put the death toll of the Saudi-led aggression on Yemen at over 13,000 mostly civilians including women, children and the elderly

Yemen cholera infections near 700,000

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization says an unprecedented cholera infection in Yemen is almost 700,000 suspected cases with little sign of slowing down.

WHO says 686,783 cholera infection cases and 2,090 deaths have been reported since late April. The number of deaths has slowed but the spread of disease has not, WHO notes.

Saudi-led airstrikes and a blockade on fuel and other supplies have left civilians in many areas across Yemen vulnerable to cholera, and less able to get antibiotics and other life-saving help than those in other parts of the Arab world's poorest nation.
