Syrian Forces Retake Largest ISIS Bastion in Homs Province

Alwaght- Syrian forces have established control over the largest ISIS terrorist group’s stronghold in Homs and the last significant bastion of the Takfiris on the way to the besieged city of Deir Ezzor.

Military sources say the Syrian Army, in cooperation with local allied forces, liberated al-Sukhnah city, 70 km northeast of Palmyra in the eastern countryside of Homs province. The army made the significant gain after launching intensive operations against ISIS terrorists in the area.

Additionally, dozens of ISIS terrorists were killed and their weapons and equipment were destroyed during the Syrian army operations.

Elsewhere, Syrian forces and local allies continued successful operations in the depths of al-Badyia desert and conducted a night air drop 20 km behind the fronts of the ISIS terrorist organization to the south of al-Kadir town between Raqqa and Homs.

The army’s successful airdrop contributed to the advancement of the army units and the backup forces 21km to establish full control over Khirbet Makman and al-Kadir town, and to the advancement 12 km to the southeast of Raqqa to establish control over Bei al-Rahoum village.

Elsewhere, an Saturday, the Syrian army supported by its Air Force repelled an ISIS attack on Deir Ezzor city  located on the shores of the Euphrates River to the northeast of Damascus.

This city, including a military airfield near the city have been besieged by ISIS terrorists for over three years, with food and ammunition only being delivered by air.

Syria has been fighting different foreign-sponsored militant and terrorist groups since March 2011. The government in Damascus blames Western countries especially the US and Britain and their regional allies’ particularity Saudi Arabia of being behind the carnage by terrorists in the country which has left nearly half a million Syrians dead.
