Alwaght- At Least 31 people have been killed and 40 injured following attacks by ISIS terrorists in the Iraqi city of Tikrit.
Security sources say at least 14 police officers are among the victims of the attacks, which took place in the city overnight.
Tikrit was liberated by Iraqi forces in April 2015 after being occupied by ISIS terrorist group in June 2014. However the Takfiri terrorists have continued to carry out attacks in the city and its outskirts.
In March of this year, dozens of people were killed in suicide bomb blasts that went off at a wedding party in a village near the city which is the hometown of the deposed dictator Saddam Hussein.
In September 2015, ISIS blew up the Green Church, one of the oldest Christian churches in the West Asia, as well as Al Arbain, a shrine and historical mosque, which were both located in the city center.
The attacks in Tikrit come after the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) announced that casualties of terrorism and violence topped 1,115 in March 2017.
A total of 548 Iraqi civilians were killed and another 567 were injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict during last month with Ninewa being the most affected Governorate, with 541 casualties (367 killed, 174 injured).
