Iran Reaffirms Support for Lebanon and The Resistance at Hezbollah Leaders’ Funeral

Alwaght- Alwaght has talked to Gholamreza Mesbahi Moghadan, the member of Iran's Assembly of Experts for Leadership, asking him about the magnificent funeral of Hezbollah Secretary-General and head of Hezbollah Executive Council Sayyed Hashem Safieddine.

Mesbahi Moghadan commented on the indescribable turnout in the funeral ceremony and reasons behind popularity of Hezbollah chief, saying: "Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is a prominent figure in the Arab world. A figure who was very influential in the Arab world, from West Asia to North Africa, and among Muslims and non-Muslims living in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and even East Asia, he was popular. The reason for this was that he had extraordinary management and leadership skills, and despite taking over the leadership of Hezbollah after Sayyed Abbas al-Mousawi, he was able to demonstrate strong management at a young age, which we have seen many times in the numerous battles against the Israeli regime. When southern Beirut was occupied by the Zionist regime, Hezbollah carried out an operation and blew up the base of American and European forces, killing dozens of their high-ranking military officials."

He further held that during the leadership of Sayyed Nasrallah, several tough wars happened between Hezbollah and Israeli regime, among them the 33-Day War in 2006 . In that war, Hezbollah siezed two spies and took intelligence from them about the Israeli plans to invade southern Lebanon. So, Hezbollah acted preemptively and the war began, but at the end of the road, Israel had to accept the ceasefire and retreat from southern Lebanon. It must be said that these victories and management were unmatched in the history of regional wars between Israel and other countries. Therefore, Sayyed Nasrallah demonstrated an extraordinary ability in leading and managing Hezbollah forces and gained popularity that became a global for him.

Mesbahi Moghadan further held: "Arab youth in many countries considered the figure of the martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah as their leader and role model. And of course, he was also supported by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [of Iran Sayyed Ali Khamenei], used his guidelines and advice, and acted in accordance with them. In fact, he implemented the instructions of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution in the operational and executive field."

Suggesting that the stunning funeral of Hezbollah chief bears witness to the survival and power of the Lebanese resistance movement under leadership of Sheikh Naim Qassem, Mesbahi Moghadan said that "after martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's operations showed that its combat structure is effectively working and actually the movement can reorganize itself and fire missiles at the occupied territories, to an extent that the strikes against Israel were large-scale that those under Sayyed Nasrallah leadership. The indicates that Hezbollah still has its organization and can carry on powerfully."

"We very much hope that this position in Lebanon and Hezbollah will be preserved. And that Hezbollah's effective regional role will continue as before. Surely, this glorious funeral will be a source of strength to Hezbollah's forces and leadership. And at the same time, it will increase Lebanon's support for Hezbollah," he added.

Mesbahi Moghadan also shed light on the Lebanese government's obstructions Iike ban on Iranian flights to Lebanon. He said that these obstructions are coming under the American pressure. They were seen in the past, too. If it was not for Sayyed Nasrallah's role and influence in the cabinet and political atmosphere of Lebanon, these obstacles could exist. But now and after accepting the ceasefire by Lebanon's cabinet, it should be said that the government is not that strong one Hezbollah expected. The interaction between Hezbollah and the government and parliament of this country requires that the resistance movement's influence on the decision-making of the Lebanese government and prime minister increase and the situation return to what it was before.
