Alwaght- Horrifying Videos were circulated on social media showing the moment when a gunman shoots people indiscriminately at a shopping mall in Munich, Germany, killing at least 9 and injuring over 23 people On Friday.
The shooter has been living in Germany for at least two years, and the initial reports said that he was not seen as a suspect in Germany, and security forces didn't bring him under close watch as a potential terrorist.
The German police said that only one attacker has been involved in the assault at a shopping center in Munich on Friday, supporting the idea that the gunman was a lone wolf.
"We found a man, who killed himself. We assume that he was the only shooter,” Munich police department stated.
People were normally shopping at Olympia shopping center when a young man who was later said to be 18-year-old opened fire at the shoppers.
There were children among the victims of the attack which was conducted by a German-Iranian young man, as police sources said.
But RT news reported that “the “perpetrator has been identified within the framework of Interpol,” quoting German police sources who posted updates on Twitter.
Before the manhunt ended, police believed that there were three gunmen who carried out the attack at the shopping center, but later it was said by the police that only one gunman was involved in the massacre.
Munich police admitted that conflicting witness statements pushed them to wrongly believe that there were three shooters engaged in the firing at the shoppers, but they discovered the body of only one gunman.
The assailant was said to have killed himself after attacking the people at the crowded mall as the police discovered his body in a nearby side street.
Police has so far failed to comment on the motive of the attacker, as on the other hand no terrorist group claimed ties with the shooter, unlike last week terrorist attack in Nice, France when a man, whom later was declared as member of ISIS terrorist group, drove by a heavy truck through the crowds who were celebrating Bastille Day, killing over 80 people.
Some witnesses said that the gunman was insulting the immigrants and Turks, and was yelling at the victims that he was German.
"Police confirmed that a person connected to the attack is among ten dead, saying that the individual committed suicide. The individual was wearing a red bag like the shooter in video released earlier in the day. The police checked the suspect’s bag with a bomb robot, but found no explosives, reported Russia’s Sputnik news agency.
The situation does not appear as an active situation anymore as the transportation is opened to the public.
