ALWAGHT- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian characterized the relations between Iran and Russia as both cordial and strategic.
On Friday, President Masoud Pezeshkian met with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the International Conference "Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development" in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
During their meeting, the two leaders discussed strengthening economic and cultural ties between Iran and Russia. Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation between the nations, emphasizing that the commitment of both countries’ leaders would ensure the continuation of this accelerating partnership.
Pezeshkian highlighted the complementary strengths of Iran and Russia and called for closer alignment on global issues. He also expressed hope for the swift finalization of a strategic partnership agreement, which he hopes to conclude at the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia.
Putin, pleased with the discussions, reiterated Russia’s dedication to expanding cooperation with Iran, noting the progress in mutual relations and trade. He also invited Pezeshkian to attend the BRICS summit, suggesting a bilateral meeting during the event. Both leaders reaffirmed their ongoing collaboration on the international stage.
