Lebanon Vows to Prevent Israeli Regime from Building Wall

Lebanon’s Higher Defense Council

Lebanon’s Higher Defense Council has taken decisions to prevent the Israeli regime from building a border wall on Lebanese land, .

Alwaght-Lebanon’s Higher Defense Council has taken decisions to prevent the Israeli regime from building a border wall on Lebanese land, amid rising tensions over land and maritime boundaries.

This wall, if it is built, will be considered an assault on Lebanese land,” the secretary general of Lebanon’s Higher Defence Council said in a statement after meeting senior government and military officials.

The Higher Defence Council has given its instructions to confront this aggression to prevent Israel from building (the wall) on Lebanese territory,” it said, without elaborating.

Israeli regime officials did not immediately respond. The Tel Aviv regime has previously claimed that the wall, and a disputed Mediterranean gas field, were on the territories it occupies.

President of Lebanon, General Michel Aoun, presided over the meeting of the Higher Defense Council in Baabda in the presence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, ministers and security services chiefs.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the security situation in the country and the Israeli regime's intention to build a wall on the southern border of Lebanon, in addition to Block 9-related threats.

After deliberation, the Council decided that it shall take appropriate decisions and give directions thereon. The Council reiterated shall keep its decisions confidential in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah has vowed to defend the rights of the country in oil and gas exploration in the eastern Mediterranean region against any new Israeli aggression.

Hezbollah said Lieberman’s recent comments were “a new aggression,” warning that it would “decisively confront any assault on our oil and gas rights.”
