ALWAGHT- IRGC Navy Commander General Ali Ozmaei has cautioned US warships against approaching the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to sink them if they do.
IRGC Navy Commander General Ali Ozmaei said the United States does not control the Strait of Hormuz, disputing Washington’s claims that the strategic waterway remains open. In his first televised interview, he asserted that Iran maintains effective control over the strait and the Persian Gulf, while the Iranian Army Navy oversees the Sea of Oman and areas beyond it.
Ozmaei described Iran’s approach as “smart control,” explaining that vessels seeking to transit the waterway must obtain authorization, with permits issued to ships travelling to or from Iran depending on prevailing conditions. He also accused the United States of encouraging vessels violating restrictions to leave the region covertly with their lights switched off.
The IRGC Navy commander further claimed that US aircraft carriers were unable to approach the strait because of their vulnerability to Iranian forces, describing a $13 billion carrier as effectively confined to operating far from the waterway. He also cited oil transportation costs of approximately $150 per barrel, characterizing the expense as a significant burden on regional energy trade.
