ALWAGHT- The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force said it had launched several ballistic missiles toward a US aircraft carrier and an American destroyer involved in what Tehran described as an illegal naval blockade of Iran, forcing the vessels to withdraw.
The IRGC said it had carried out a retaliatory operation against a US aircraft carrier and destroyer, claiming the two vessels were damaged and subsequently withdrew from the area.
The US Central Command acknowledged that the two warships had come under “multiple” Iranian strikes. The IRGC described the acknowledgment as evidence of its offensive capabilities and what it called a strategic defeat for the United States.
The IRGC warned that continued US “hostile and aggressive actions” would prompt further responses from Iran’s Armed Forces. It also said Iran remained committed to defending its sovereignty and security.
The statement followed the release of previously unseen footage concerning US-linked vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC also said it had previously targeted three US-linked vessels and three oil tankers in retaliation for earlier US attacks on Iranian tankers.
