Calls to Restart Negotiations with Iran Are Emerging: FM

ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi highlighted fresh calls to resume talks with Iran, emphasizing that military pressure has failed to meet US and Israeli goals and that diplomacy remains the only viable solution.

At a Tehran conference on “International Law under Assault,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described recent US and Israeli military strikes on Iran as “an attack on diplomacy,” stressing that force cannot replace dialogue. He noted that the confrontations failed to achieve US and Israeli objectives and have prompted new calls for renewed negotiations.

Araghchi emphasized that while facilities may be damaged, Iran’s knowledge and determination remain intact, and requests to reopen talks have already emerged. He reaffirmed that Iran has never abandoned the negotiating table and criticized Western governments for walking away from diplomacy.

Highlighting Iran’s strengthened unity and defensive capabilities after the June conflict, Araghchi said the lessons learned have made the country better prepared, serving as a deterrent. He urged the US and its allies to adopt a respectful approach, warning that Iran will respond according to how it is treated.

The military confrontation began on June 13 when Israel launched a 12-day attack on Iranian military, nuclear, and residential sites, followed by US strikes on nuclear facilities. Iran retaliated with missile strikes, including targeting the US’s al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, before a ceasefire was enforced on June 24.
