ALWAGHT- On the margins of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran, engaged in meetings and discussions with his counterparts.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in New York to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. His agenda includes delivering Iran’s positions at the UN, holding bilateral and multilateral meetings with counterparts, and engaging with the media. He is also expected to meet with the foreign ministers of Britain, France, and Germany, along with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
On the sidelines of the UNGA, Araghchi met with several counterparts, including the foreign ministers of Sudan, Oman, Poland, Austria, and Egypt. Discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional crises, and broader international issues. The meetings provided a platform to address cooperation, peace, and mutual concerns.
In his talks with European counterparts, Araghchi criticized their stance on Iran’s nuclear issue and condemned attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities by the US and Israel, describing them as unprecedented violations of international law. He warned against the spread of lawlessness in global affairs and urged adherence to the UN Charter.
Regional issues, particularly the situation in Palestine, featured prominently in discussions with Oman and Sudan. Araghchi called for international accountability against Israeli actions and stressed the need for Islamic unity. The Sudanese side also highlighted its domestic challenges and reaffirmed its resolve to resist foreign interference while working toward peace and stability.
