Dozens Killed in Israeli Air Raids on Gaza City as Humanitarian Conditions Deteriorate

ALWAGHT- Continuous Israeli bombardment has killed dozens across Gaza, as civilians endure widespread destruction, starvation, and what many describe as genocidal conditions.

By midday Saturday, Gaza officials reported over 50 people killed since dawn, including at least 40 in Gaza City. Among the dead was Majed Abu Salmiya and several of his children, when their home in the Shati refugee camp was targeted. Separate strikes in Al-Tuffah and near Rafah also killed and injured civilians, highlighting the widespread impact of ongoing Israeli attacks.

Gaza City has become the focal point of these attacks, which officials describe as part of a systematic plan to control the territory and forcibly displace its population. The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported that Israeli forces are carrying out the equivalent of 17 car-bomb explosions daily in the city, documenting roughly 120 blasts in residential neighborhoods over the past week.

Authorities report that Israel is attempting to forcibly relocate some 270,000 Palestinians from Gaza City to the south, but over 900,000 people remain in Gaza City and northern areas, refusing to leave. “Shelter zones” designated by Israel cover only 12% of the territory, yet authorities are trying to cram over 1.7 million displaced people into these limited areas, worsening the humanitarian crisis.

Since the war began in October 2023, over 65,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 166,000 injured, many of them women, children, and aid workers. Entire neighborhoods and vital infrastructure—including hospitals, schools, water systems, and bakeries—have been destroyed, while the blockade has left Gaza’s 2.2 million residents with critically limited access to food, clean water, and medicine, creating conditions UN officials call a humanitarian “nightmare.”
