ALWAGHT- The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that Tehran is prepared to restore ties with Damascus but is not rushing, noting that any resumption of relations will prioritize the interests of the Syrian people.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Iran regards itself as a friend of the Syrian people and views the suspension of ties between the two historically close Islamic nations as temporary.
He stressed that Syria’s future should be shaped with respect for the rights of all ethnic and social groups. Baghaei also strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Syria and underscored the importance of safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and unity.
Regarding the resumption of diplomatic relations, the spokesman said Iran is not rushing the process but indicated that both nations would be ready to restore ties once it is clear that renewed friendship serves the interests of the Syrian people.
