ALWAGHT- Iran is determined to expand ties with Tajikistan in diplomatic, economic, cultural, and other areas by drawing on shared values and interests, said Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe on Wednesday, shortly after arriving in the Tajik capital. During the meeting, Araghchi emphasized the deep historical and cultural bonds between Iran and Tajikistan, including their shared language and heritage. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to using these commonalities to strengthen cooperation in economic, diplomatic, cultural, and educational fields.
Araghchi also delivered warm greetings from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian to the Tajik president and people. In response, President Rahmon praised the special nature of Tehran-Dushanbe relations and highlighted the importance of further enhancing bilateral ties built on long-standing friendship and mutual respect.
The two officials also discussed regional developments, including the situations in Central Asia, the Caucasus, Afghanistan, and West Asia. Araghchi was accompanied by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismaeil Baghaei, who noted on social media that the one-day trip would include meetings with senior Tajik officials to address both bilateral and broader geopolitical issues.
