The US Greenlights A $510 Million Arms Sale to Israel Amid Gaza Genocide

ALWAGHT- With the conflict in Gaza now in its 21st month, the US government has greenlit a $510 million arms sale to the Israeli regime, bolstering Washington’s military support.

The United States approved a $510 million arms sale to Israel on June 30, which includes over 7,000 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits—3,845 KMU-558B/B kits for the BLU-109 bomb and 3,280 KMU-572 F/B kits for the MK-82 bomb. The deal also covers technical support, engineering assistance, and logistics services, with Boeing as the primary contractor. This sale was processed through the Foreign Military Sales program and formally notified to Congress, which must still approve the transaction.

The US State Department justified the deal as essential to helping Israel maintain a strong and ready military capability, calling it vital to US national security interests. Despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which has lasted 21 months and resulted in tens of thousands of Palestinian casualties, the US government asserted that the sale would not alter the military balance in the region. This latest arms transfer follows a larger $7.4 billion weapons package approved earlier in the year, which included bombs, penetrator warheads, and bulldozers used in Gaza.

Israeli officials have acknowledged receiving massive amounts of US military equipment over recent years, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praising US support. Critics argue that continued US arms sales make Washington complicit in Israel’s military operations in Gaza, where widespread destruction and civilian deaths have drawn international condemnation. Despite this, the US remains committed to its strategic alliance with Israel, providing extensive military aid amid ongoing regional tensions.
