ALWAGHT- The Iranian foreign minister urged the UN Security Council to acknowledge the Israeli regime and the US as the perpetrators of the recent aggression against Iran and to hold them accountable, including through compensation and reparations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a letter dated June 28, 2025, urged the UN Security Council to hold the United States and Israel accountable for their recent aggression against Iran. He emphasized that the Israeli attacks, which targeted civilian infrastructure, hospitals, energy facilities, and nuclear sites, violated multiple international laws and UN Charter provisions. Araghchi called on the Security Council to recognize these acts as aggression and to ensure the aggressors are responsible for compensation and reparations.
The letter highlighted widespread condemnation of the attacks from various international groups, including the Non-Aligned Movement, BRICS, the Arab Union, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Araghchi stressed that the Security Council has a primary duty to maintain international peace and security and must act to prevent further violations and uphold the rule of law. He warned that tolerating such aggression undermines the credibility of the United Nations and threatens global stability.
Araghchi also reminded the Security Council that political and military leaders who order acts of aggression bear individual liability under international law. He urged the Council to take decisive action to hold the United States and Israel accountable and prevent recurrence of such crimes, underscoring the importance of upholding international legal norms to maintain peace and security worldwide.
