ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that continuing indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US is illogical while the Israeli regime is conducting military aggression against the Islamic Republic.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a phone call with EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas, condemned Israel’s military attacks on Iran, attributing them to direct US support for Tel Aviv. He argued that continuing the indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the US is unjustifiable while Israeli aggression persists, and called for global condemnation of Israel’s violations of Iran’s sovereignty, including attacks on nuclear sites and residential areas that caused civilian casualties.
Araghchi urged the European Union and permanent members of the UN Security Council to denounce Israel’s actions and emphasized Iran’s determination to defend its national sovereignty and security through lawful retaliatory measures. Kallas expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and reaffirmed the EU’s readiness to support diplomatic efforts by the UN Security Council and other international bodies to ease the conflict and restore regional peace.
The backdrop to these developments includes recent Israeli strikes on Tehran and other Iranian targets that killed senior Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists, prompting strong warnings from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei about severe repercussions. The escalation has complicated ongoing indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US, which were scheduled to continue shortly after the attacks.
