Karzai Slams US Dropping ‘Mother of All Bombs’ in Afghanistan

Alwaght- Former President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai has condemned the decision of the US to use its largest non-nuclear bomb in his country.

On Thursday, the Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that US Forces-Afghanistan used a 22,000-pound MOAB ( Mother of All Bombs) for the first time to conduct a strike on a tunnel system used by ISIS terror group's offshoot in Afghanistan (outlawed in Russia) in Nangarhar province.

"I vehemently and in strongest words condemn the dropping of the latest weapon, the largest non-nuclear bomb, on Afghanistan by US military," Karzai said in a Twitter message.

Karzai accused the US military of using Afghanistan as a testing site for new weapons adding that, "This is not the War on Terror, but the inhuman and most brutal misuse of our country as testing ground for new and dangerous weapons." He said it is upon the Afghans to stop the US in the country.

US President Donald Trump boasted that he considers the dropping of the MOAB in Afghanistan to be "another successful job" carried out by the US military.

The US military said it had killed 36 militants using the MOAB costs around $16 million.

Military experts have questioned the rationale of deploying a weapon of that scale against a group of around 600 to 800 fighters who pose a limited threat to the Afghan state.
