Syrian Army Liberates Palmyra Hours After Its Fall to ISIS

Alwaght- Syrian army managed to liberate the ancient city of Palmyra from ISIS, hours after it was occupied by the terrorist group.

Supported by the new forced deployed form other fronts, Syrian forces managed to move the terrorists back to the northern outskirts of the city in Homs Province.

"Terrorists had captured the city for hours, but after arrival of newly deployed forces, their progress was stopped," a field reported told Iranian Fars News agency.

The forces stopped terrorists at the center of the city and then pushed them back toward its outskirts.

Russian helicopters are heavily bombarding terrorists' positions in the region after a bad weather prevented their earlier reaction, the reporter said.

Heavy fighting is still going on the outskirts as Syrian forces try to stabilize their positions in the city.

Syria has been hit with foreign-backed terrorist groups in the country since 2011. Supported by Russian airstrikes Syrian government has managed to liberate some 95 percent of the embattled city of Aleppo in northern Syria and now it seems terrorists are trying to gain a new foot hold after their main stronghold is almost lost.
