Alwaght- The Giza Criminal Court, held at the Police Academy – the Fifth District, and headed by the Advisor Mustafa Abutalib, acquitted Habib Al-Adli of profiteering charges in the last case remaining against him. Habib Al-Adli was the Minister of Internal Affairs during the governing of the former Eqyptian President Husni Mubarak. Al-Adli was acquitted of theft, bribery and profiteering through exploiting his job, where he collected around 25 million dollars – an estimate of 181 million pounds. He has also been accused of ceasing agricultural lands, real estates, apartments, illegal profits, etc. He has abused his governmental position as the head of the Security State and then as the Minister of Internal Affairs. Few days earlier, another Egyptian Court decided to refer the death sentence decision of 44 of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement, among who is the General Morshid Muhammad Badi, to the Mufti of the country on the charges of causing violence and sabotage, committing murder and belonging to a terrorist group.
It is the double-standards of the Egyptian judiciary. What's new with that? The new Egyptian Judiciary in the Sisi era is a continuation to the judiciary of the deposed ruling of President Husni Mubarak. It continues with the series of accusations, arresting activists, acquitting criminals and criminalizing the activists and the revolutionaries. The arrest of the "January Revolution" Icons, among who is the Egyptian Activist Alaa Abdulfattah most recently, is the best proof of that.
The criminal and fraudulent record of Mubarak, along with his two sons and his top supporters, is also a proof of the continuation of the double-standards by the Egyptian judiciary. Al-Adli – Minister of Internal Affairs in the era of Mubarak – took the lives of hundreds, oppressed the protestors of the Egyptian revolution (January 25th Revolution), and issued direct orders to kill tens of the unarmed Egyptians in several areas in Cairo and other provinces. He was the cause of many massacres with the most famous ones in Tahrir Square and the attacks on the peaceful demonstrators with camels and armory. Today, this criminal became an oppressed innocent. We will not be surprised if the Egyptian administration asks for compensations and rehabilitation after this. This acquit will not be granted to such criminal unless under the sentence of such judiciary. This judiciary became known as the "Egyptian Farce", a judiciary that issues decisions based on the desires of Sisi and his governmental apparatus. It became impossible to distinguish between the Judiciary Authority and the Executive Authority, where all authorities are once again in the hands of the Military Institute.
The tasks of the Egyptian judiciary today are confined to the dictates of the military will. They are as follow: the acquittal of the former regime symbols of all the charges against them (Al-Adli, Mubarak and his sons, etc.); the condemning of the Egyptian Revolution leaders; and the arrest of all those who utter the word of opposition such as "military coup" or "second revolution" (such as April 6th Movement). Moreover, the Egyptian judiciary has to create laws that is in accord with the military demands, such as the laws of banning demonstration, fighting terrorism, considering Hamas a terrorist organization, destroying the houses near Gaza strip, etc.
The decision of acquitting Al-Adli is another Death sentence for the "January 25th Revolution". Before January 28th, the revolutionary Egyptian people were convinced that they will be severely punished if they did not succeed with their revolution. However, they have comprehended that "Another Revolution" has come today to burn their true revolution. There was an action of the "January 25th Revolution" by the Egyptian people, and now there is a reaction of the "Military Coup" by the military institute. It is natural that for every action, there is a reaction, which is acting to destroy the revolutionary power of the people. Despite all this, there is hope that the Egyptian people will change the direction of the current for their own advantage.
