Alwaght- People broke into main prison of ISIS-held city of Mosul on Friday and freed dozens of inmates as Iraqi army is closing in on the terrorists group's last stronghold in northern Iraq.
Iraq-based al-Sumaria satellite television network quoted an unnamed security source as saying that the Mosul residents on Friday evening storm the city's main prison, located in the eastern part of Mosul, and liberated at least 45 prisoners after killing all of the ISIS terrorists guarding the jail.
The development comes as Iraqi army troops, backed by the country’s Popular Mobilization forces, also known Hashd al-Shaabi, and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, are tightening the noose around the terror group bastion.
The Iraqi troops managed to enter Mosul's limits earlier this week for the first time since June 2014, when Iraq's second-largest city fell to the terrorist group. So far, a large number of the city's villages and districts have been liberated from terrorists as Mosul Liberation Operation that begun on 17 October simultaneously goes on from almost all directions.
