18 Dead in Terrorist Attack in Iraq

18 people were dead in a suicide attack in Karbala Province in Iraq, AFP reports.

Attack took place in the town of Ayn Tamer, located 120 kilometers west of the provincial capital Karabala, The Euphrates Operations Command said in a statement.

The provincial health directorate said at least 18 people were killed in the act of violence, while at least 26 others were wounded

Five suicide bombers with explosive belts attacked a wedding ceremony when one of the attackers opened fire and throw hand grenades before finally blowing himself up.

Iraqi forces managed to shoot the four remaining attacker before they could cause more fatalities.

"They were carrying Kalashnikovs and hand grenades. One of them blew himself up and the others were killed by the security forces," head of the central Euphrates operations command, Qais Khalaf, said.

Five members of a same family were among the dead, according to a health official from Karbala province.

The ISIS terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
